UK & EU agree on post-Brexit reset deals, including protections for steel exports

The UK and European Union agreed to a comprehensive reset of post-Brexit relations, covering trade, defense, energy, fishing, and more. Finalized ahead of a London summit with EU leaders Ursula von der Leyen and Antonio Costa, the deal marks the most significant shift since the UK left the EU in 2020.

The agreement gives EU fishing boats access to UK waters until 2038 in exchange for reduced trade barriers, including fewer checks on food, drink, animal, and plant products.

The government also announced that British steel exports will be protected from new EU rules and tariffs. Other elements include cooperation on energy networks, emissions trading, and security.
