The US Department of Commerce announced on June 12 that it will impose a 25% tariff on certain imported home appliances, effective from June 23.
According to the Federal Register, the additional duty will apply to products such as dishwashers, washing machines, refrigerators, dryers, cooking stoves, ovens, food waste disposers, and steel shelving. The tariff will affect goods entering the US or withdrawn from warehouses on or after the effective date.
The move may lead to higher prices for related materials, including galvanized and painted steel, motors, and other components, potentially driving up consumer costs and causing market disruptions.
