It was reported that Pan African Resources, one of the gold mining groups, had confirmed that they were going to close one underground mine in South Africa, called Evander Gold Mine.

This closure would cause unemployment crisis in Mpumalanga, and around 1,700 employees would be out of work at the end of this month based upon the source.

The company alleged that they made this decision for the reason of continuous weak gold price and operation losses after reviewing internally and externally.

They would provide retrenched employees opportunities to another processing project, and there would be around 250 jobs.
