According to reports, British Steel announced it planned for the second temporary closedown of its Skinningrove plant and 300 employees would be furloughed.

The plant has stopped production for 3 weeks earlier this year and employees resumed working in April 2020.

However, the company said that it still faced challenges including the Special Profiles business in Skinningrove. Therefore, it decided to temporarily stop the production for three weeks, starting from June 13th. The company also announced to look for the earliest chance to resume production.

British Steel said the stock booking remained strong but the business was still slow due to the coronavirus outbreak. As the economy was back to open then the company could trade as normal.
