British Steel, the UK's sole rail manufacturer, has secured a new £500 million supply contract with Network Rail. This five-year agreement, with an option for a three-year extension, ensures British Steel remains the primary supplier for Britain's rail infrastructure.

All rails for this contract will be manufactured at British Steel’s Scunthorpe steelworks, the source of most UK track.

The company will deliver 70,000 to 80,000 tons of rail annually, primarily for maintenance and renewals, reinforcing Britain’s reputation as the safest railway in Europe.

The contract includes innovative long-life rails, HP335 and Zinoco®, designed to reduce maintenance and replacement needs.
