The original negotiations between the US and Canada regarding the re-establishment of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) ended last Friday, but the parties have yet to reach an agreement.

News from Canada pointed out that the talks will continue this week. Before the US and Canada representatives concluded, it was reported that President Trump had privately stated that he would not make concessions to Canada.

Trump said that the new agreement must be based entirely on the US provisions, and Canada has taken advantage from the US for many years. Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland said that Canada would only sign an agreement which was in its national interest.
