Indonesian Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto recently announced that the government planned to impose a 7.5-10% import tariff on downstream industries to curb imports, and also planned to impose a 2.5% tariff on raw materials.

Airlangga Hartarto also mentioned that the official was expected to complete the tariff revision this month and hoped to solve the deficit problem in current account.

It was understood that the present Indonesian deficit of current account was 3%, and the government was assessing the raise in import tariffs on 900 products.
