ArcelorMittal Brasil announced that it will reduce crude steel capacity of Barra Mansa plant by about 800,000 tons, and this decision will not affect finished steel production or customer service.

Mainly because Brazil CADE (Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica) has approved ArcelorMittal's acquisition of Votorantim Siderurgia, and crude steel capacity will be added 1.8 million tons for the group.

Although Barra Mansa plant reduced crude steel production, finished steel products were remained in normal operation, and the group's steel mills will supply with required raw materials. ArcelorMittal took this synergy to expand the scale of its local operations and to make Barra Mansa a key development.
