JSW Steel's consolidated crude steel production reached 2.273 million tons in May, rising by 8% compared to the same month a year ago, according to a company statement released on June 9.

Among them, Indian operations contributed 2.194 million tons, up by 9% year on year. However, JSW Steel USA in Ohio had a 7% year-on-year decline, producing 79,000 tons.

The company's overall capacity utilization averaged 80% in May, mainly due to scheduled maintenance of one of the blast furnaces at its Dolvi plant, which restarted on May 30.

In the first five months of this year, cumulative crude steel production amounted to 4.756 million tons, a 13% rise compared to the same period a year ago.
