POSCO orders new Electro Magnetic Stirrer from Danieli Rotelec to secure slab quality

South Korea’s steelmaker POSCO has commissioned Danieli Rotelec to upgrade slab caster No. 1 at the second steel plant at Gwangyang Works with a Multi-Mode Electro Magnetic Stirrer (MM®-EMS).

This upgrade replaces the existing mold technology to match the high-quality performance of slab caster No. 3, which already operates with MM®-EMS.

The slab caster No. 1 is a two-strand caster that can produce 800-1,600 mm wide, 250 mm thick slabs in ultra-low, low, medium, and high carbon grades.

This upgrade marks the 13th POSCO caster to adopt Danieli Rotelec’s advanced stirring technology.
