Norway-based steel producer Blastr Green Steel (Blastr) announced it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with INTERFER Edelstahl Group, a leading European steel trading company, for supplying 150,000 tons of ultra-low CO2 steel products every year.

The deal includes a combined 10% of planned capacity at Blastr’s green steel plant at Inkoo, Finland.

Blastr makes a low-carbon steel value chain with lower CO2 emissions compared to traditional steelmaking which uses hydrogen in steel production instead of coal

The chain includes the Inkoo steel plant with an expected annual capacity of 2.5 million tons of ultra-low CO2 steel and the development of a green DR pellet plant in the UK, serving the request from the European Commission for an environmentally friendly industrial solution.

The deal with INTERFER is to supply low-carbon steel from the Inkoo plant for the long term. The shipment plan will begin by the end of 2029. Both companies will start the talks on a binding agreement at the beginning of 2025.
