World's biggest copper mine BHP Billiton upgraded its new digital technology capabilities. Next-generation technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and data analytics will be applied to unlock more production and value from the existing mines.

BHP partnered with Microsoft to use AI and machine learning to lift copper recovery at Escondida, the world's biggest copper mine. The team at Escondida is well-positioned to create more value from an existing resource through new ways.

In 2022, BHP's Escondida production increased by 4.3% to 1.054 million tons due to higher concentrator feed grade.
