India’s steelmakers in Chhattisgarh seeking to increase coal supply

8 Aug 2022 17:53 reported by Stanley Wang

A A A
Recently, secondary steel makers in Chhattisgarh, India, were looking to increase coal supply from the mines in the state because South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) had decided to stop supplying coal to steel and other industry in Chhattisgarh.

The coal demand from the steel industry in Chhattisgarh was about 20 million to 22 million tons every year. However, only 25% or even fewer coal demands can be supplied.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister indicated that the shortage supply of coal would impact the local economic development significantly and the operation of power plants.
