According to data of according to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the US steel production in Indiana and the Chicago, the country’s second largest steel production regions totaled 465 thousand tons in the week ended on April 9th, dropped by 5,000 tons from its previous week.

At the same time, the country’s steel production in the Southern District, the national’s largest steel production region was at around 617 thousand tons, rose from 591 thousand tons from a week earlier.

In addition, the US steel mills’ utilization of capacity was at 74.3% last week, up from 74.1% in a week earlier.

Meanwhile, the US mills have produced around 25.46 million tons of raw steel until now this year, higher than 23.75 million tons in the same period of 2010.
