Preliminary data from the US Department of Commerce's Census Bureau revealed that the US imported approximately 135,000 tons of steel coils in January, which marked a 33% increase compared to the preceding month and a 9% hike from the same month a year ago.

Canada remained the largest supplier, exporting around 71,000 tons to the US, a month-on-month decrease of 0.6% and a year-on-year growth of 9%. Mexico followed as the second-largest supplier, providing about 21,200 tons during the month.

The total import value generated by these imports for January was approximately US$103 million, reflecting a 33% hike compared to the previous month and a 9.7% decrease from the same month last year.
