Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (ATI), a specialty metal company headquartered in the US, reported that its sales value reached US$616 million in the second quarter of this year, and the net loss was US$44.4 million during the period, partly due to the long-term labor dispute with the United Steelworkers (USW).

The labor dispute lasted from March 30 to July 13, regarding an issue of the inconsistency of medical expenses. The strike by employees led to a short-term resistance, but the settlement they reached let the company have a more predictable and manageable cost structure. The steel market will rebound gradually as the global economy recovers from the COVID-19 epidemic crisis.
