According to Tokyo Steel's announcement, in order to further promote the application of electric furnace steel products, the company decided to enter the cold rolling market and set up a 250,000 tons/year cold rolling production line at the Okayama plant. It is expected to be put into operation as early as 2026. The new cold rolling production line is expected to cost 10 billion yen. The production line will be started in the 2026-2027 fiscal year, from April to early March of the following year.
This new cold-rolled coil production line will convert the annealing furnace of the existing hot-dip galvanizing line at the Okayama plant into a dual-purpose production line, maximizing the use of the existing annealing equipment so that it can produce both cold-rolled coils and hot-dip galvanized coils at the same time.
