Marcegaglia, one of the Italian leading steel processing sectors, aimed to acquire Evraz Palini e Bertoli, one of the plates rolling mills in Italy.

Although the rumors had existed in the market for several weeks, the news has just been confirmed after the Directorate General for Competition launched the merger case of M.9568.

According to the market rule, the acquisition was needed to be clarified by the European Commission, and the process would be done at the end of November.

The acquisition was expected to bring Marcegaglia an extra about 400,000 tons of plate-making capacity every year, which annually capacity only got 450,000 tons currently.
