Argentine steelmaker Acindar, a subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, suspended production at its plant in the province of Santa Fe starting from last Saturday, July 26.

Approximately 600 workers are affected by this suspension, and they will receive 75% of their salary during the suspension period.

The Metalworkers' Union (UOM) indicated that Acindar's decision is due to the sharp drop in demand and warned that the company could extend the suspension to other plants in Argentina.
