The 13th round of free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations between China, South Korea and Japan ended in March this year. The 14th round of FTA negotiation was held in Beijing, China on December 6th. In this round of FTA negotiation, these three countries will discuss the opening of the cargo and service market, and hope that trade liberalization of the three parties could exceed the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP).

The FTA negotiations between China, Japan and South Korea began in March 2013, but there had been no significant progress for a long time. According to the South Korean Ministry of Industry, the reason was that the industrial structure of China, Japan and Korea were different, and the economically sensitive areas were different, making the negotiations difficult to advance.

The RCEP was initiated by 10 countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the content of the agreement is currently under negotiation.
