It was reported that ArcelorMittal Italia will restart Taranto's 600,000 tons/year plate mill on February 10th, initially planning to achieve a total output of about 30,000 tons in 4 weeks.

ArcelorMittal Italia currently operates 3 blast furnaces at the plant. Its annual crude steel production target is 4.5-5 million tons.

The government has expressed its hope that the plant will produce 8 million tons per year without layoffs.

Although ArcelorMittal has submitted a plan for the plant's annual capacity of 4.5 million tons, it will reach 6 million tons by 2023.
