Acciaierie Bertoli Safau (ABS), the steelmaking division of Danieli Group, has acquired Rott-Ferr, a company specializing in the scrap collection service near Udine, in order to expand the company's business, involving the raw material collection process, and strengthening a complete circular production cycle.

Rott-Ferr has been cooperating with ABS for a long time. This scrap recovery company has been operating in the sector for over twenty years, collecting around 100,000 tons of scrap yearly.

According to ABS, the decision is likely to be in response to the tight supply of scrap expected in Europe for steel producers’ conversion from blast furnace-based production to electric arc furnace-based production.
