It’s reported that the construction sector in Paraguay has faced the shortage of cement for long time and now the shortage of rebar makes it worst, according to the source.

In fact, for the representative of Construction Professional Association (Aprocons), they have to wait weeks to get rebar in the market, and for the president of Paraguay Construction Chameber (Capaco), there is indeed short supply for the needs of constructors.

The president of Capaco said this problem is not just for now and it has been last for long time. If the government wants to help construction sector, it would have to focus more on this shortage problem.

The constructors believe one of the reasons of the shortage is that the steelmakers sold their rebar to Argentina for better sales price and give up local market.

As a result of the shortage, the price of rebar in this February is up to 5%, the same as cement.
