Due to shortage of carbon steel materials, Taiwanese hot dip galvanized steel suppliers have hiked their price for July.

The GI price has increased by about 30 percent compared with the price in early April. The current HGI and CGI materials are prevailed at NT$21,000/ton and NT$23,000/ton in local market.

The GI price is predicted to remain high until the third quarter due to tight supply of raw materials and production cut of local mills.

It’s said that one of major galvanized steel mills plans to start its regular maintenance in September, and accordingly the price is very like to ascend again then.
