It is reported that Indonesian government has imposed safeguard duty against constructional section steel which the sharp rise of its shipment into local market are hurting domestic industry. 
 
The country’s Trade Ministry announced that this new measure will last for 3 years, from January 21 this year till January 20, 2018.  According to this measure, the imported I beam section and H bean section will be charged 28% in the first year and then 26% and 18% for second and third year respectively.
 
Indonesian Trade Security Committee (KPPI) launched the official investigation of this case on February 12 2014, by petition of PT Gunung Garuda, who is the major producer of the country and controls the biggest share in the domestic market.
 
The major exporters of such product to Indonesia are: China (market share of 96.62%), South Korea (1.56%) and Singapore (0.96%).
