It is reported that India’s Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) announced to temporary shut down its Bhilai Steel Plantt due to No.5 blast furnace carbon monoxide leakage accident occurred last Thursday.

The accident has 4 workers were killed and 31 others injured. Currently, the No.5 blast furnace has a temporary shutdown and other blast furnaces are still functioning.

Meanwhile, Bhilai Steel Plant currently has 7 blast furnaces with a total annual steel production capacity of 4.7 million tons of hot metal.

Its No.8 blast furnace, which part of the expansion project, is being built. After commissioning the plant's annual production capacity of crude steel would be expanded from about 4.9 million tons to 7 million tons.
