Due to a buoyant international price, Pakistan Steel announced that they have increased their billet price by around US$30/ton.

The ex-mill price for sale in the domestic market was increased from US$461-497/ton to US$497-527/ton excluding tax and excise duty. This has also affected the price of semi-finished products.

The price of flat products such as hot and cold rolled coil as well as hot dipped galvanized coils from Pakistan Steel has remained stable during the last few months.

The Pakistan government has set up a 16 member taskforce that will be trying to revamp the country’s steel industry.

Pakistan Steel is also part of this taskforce made up of industry stakeholders. One of the issues undertaken is how to connect the Pakistan steel industry with the global market.
