Metals Service Center Institute report said that the United States metal service center of aluminum product shipments fell by 0.4% to 115,642 tons in April 2017; compared to 2016 the shipments decreased by 4.2% to 1.42 million tons.

At the end of April, the United States aluminum products inventory reduced by 1% to 344932 tons, equivalent to about 3 months of supply, unchanged from the level of the previous year.

In April, the Canadian metal service center of aluminum product shipments reduced by 4.3% to 8707.2 tons, compared with 10.5% to 111,016 tons in 2016. At the end of April, the Canadian aluminum products inventory reduced by 4.2% to 28,842 tons, equivalent to about 3.3 months of supply, with the same period last year.

In April 2017, the North American (the United States and Canada) primary aluminum production was 325,938 tons, down by 3.5% compared with the previous month, reduced by 0.8% compared with the same period last year. The primary aluminum production in North America decreased by 10%, to 4.03 million tons throughout the year of 2016.
