On September 18th, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) published a new list about the 10% tariff that the US government will charge to the Chinese imported products from September 24th, and the tariff duty rate will be risen up to 25% next year.

Although the victim of this new tariff was China, as per the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan, this situation could affect the Taiwanese market and businessman as well. One of the fundamental reasons was because there were many Taiwanese plants in China.

For the moment, Taiwan could be considered as a country situated on the safe margin, but according to the Taiwanese Ministry of Economic Affairs, it could be involved in the trade war as well if it kept expanding.

At the same time, the Ministry has also stated that it will keep observing the relations between these two global superpowers and assessing the impact of these new US policies on the Chinese imported products and on Taiwanese businessmen.
