Vietnam’s Hoa Phat Dung Quat Rail and Special Steel Joint Stock Company is partnering with Germany's SMS group to build a state-of-the-art rail and section mill. Located in the Dung Quat Economic Zone, the new plant will have an annual production capacity of 700,000 tons.

SMS group will supply key technological equipment, including Breakdown Mill, Universal Revering Tandem Mill group, and so forth. The mill will feature the newest hydraulic bottom roll adjustment, the latest generation CCS® Stands (Compact Cartridge Stands). It will also integrate a laser in-line profile measuring system (PROgauge) and straightening machines for superior quality and minimal residual stress for rails.

Equipped with advanced Level 1 and 2 automation, including a Quality Execution System (QES), the facility will elevate productivity, reduce operational costs, and energy consumption.

Production is expected to commence within 20 months, strengthening Hoa Phat's role in Vietnam's steel industry and supporting regional high-speed train projects and infrastructure projects.
