From United States steel import monitoring and analysis of data released by the Ministry of Commerce recently, United States Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) announced in June this year, United States steel import permit applications totaled 2.907 million short tons, down by 1% compared to 2.946 million short tons in May.

Those for finished steel import permit applications totaled 2.255 million short tons in June, an increase of 9% compared to 2.077 million short tons in May.

The first six months of this year (including the June initial SIMA and May data), United States steel and finished steel imports were 15.702 million short tons and 12.799 million short tons, both down 28% compared to the same period last year.
