Azovstal, one of the main steel plants in Ukraine, was badly damaged by Russia’s military attack in Mariupol. The damage situation is unknown, so it still needs to evaluate whether it can be repaired.

After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Metinvest, which accounts for 40% of Ukraine's steel production, suspended its two steel plate and coil plants in Mariupol, Ilyich Iron and Steel Works and Azovstal Iron and Steel Works, on February 24. The big steel mill has taken measures to reduce damage to the environment once it is hit by the attack.

Due to the war, the coke oven production has been stopped, so the coke oven batteries will not be dangerous to residents, and the blast furnace has also been shut down correctly.
