Italy allocates €200 million to support Acciaierie d'Italia during sale talks

The Italian government allocated EUR200 million to support steelmaker Acciaierie d’Italia (ADI), formerly known as Ilva, while negotiations for its sale continue. In March, the government began exclusive talks with an Azeri consortium about acquiring ADI, which has been under state administration since last year due to rising energy costs and weak demand.

The new funding was confirmed after a meeting between ministers and unions in Rome, where the government emphasized its commitment to ensuring financial support for the company’s ongoing operations. Italy has repeatedly intervened to support the troubled steelworks, as its shutdown would significantly impact the country’s manufacturing sector.
