Taiwan’s CSC eyes new order opportunities in Asian steel market

Facing the US tariff policy, countries such as South Korea, Vietnam, and India have taken anti-dumping (AD) measures against steel imports from China. Taiwan’s China Steel Corporation (CSC) expects that this will lead to a reorganization of the supply chain in the Asian steel market and is actively seeking new order opportunities.

South Korea has preliminarily decided to impose 27.91%-38.02% AD duties on thick steel plates imported from China because China's low-priced steel dumping has affected its local industries. Statistics showed that China's market share of thick steel plates in South Korea has nearly tripled in three years, putting pressure on local steel mills.

Such a situation has attracted the attention of steel mills in Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia, and they have begun to compete for orders. CSC said that it has recently received inquiries from South Korean companies, but it failed to reach a deal due to prices. However, it hoped to take this opportunity to expand orders for the future.
