The total shipment of Taiwan's China Steel Corporation (CSC) and Dragon Steel Corporation (DSC) was about 916,000 tons in April, falling short of the target by 21,000 tons, mainly due to a decline in domestic sales, while exports saw growth.

CSC highlighted that ongoing changes in US tariff policies under the Trump administration introduced significant uncertainty for industries reliant on steel, leading customers to adopt a more cautious approach and only purchase materials on an as-demand basis. Although some sectors experienced a rise in urgent orders, the overall market outlook remains uncertain.

While several Asian nations have imposed trade remedy measures against Chinese steel, China's crude steel production continued to increase in April. The ability of China to manage and reduce its steel output moving forward will play a critical role in shaping the direction of steel markets across Asia.
