It was reported that NLMK Group announced that it has started the building of metal structures for a new grain-oriented steel plant in the Maharashtra state in India. The construction was planned for equipment installation in late 2021 and was expected to commission in the first half of 2022.

NLMK said it will make the final transformation stage in India by applying the electrically insulated coating, straightening by annealing, cutting, and laser treatment of finished products.

The annual capacity of the plant will be 64,000 tons of grain-oriented steel with an investment of around US$100-150 million.

The setup of the new plant will allow the company to expand in the Indian market. Currently, it has a share in the grain-oriented steel market of 25%.
