MEPS reported that the prices of steel flat products have risen sharply in northern Europe for deals made in late January and early February 2011.

It’s known that the prices of hot rolled and cold rolled coil have increased by €100/ton.

However, as the delivery lead time from the Northern European mills has been lengthening, some suppliers in the south have had spare capacity for immediate rolling to capture the top prices for early dispatches.

Meanwhile, the prices for quarto plate have continued increasing, despite lagged behind those for coil products.

In the contrary, overcapacity of galvanized sheet and coil has dented the market in recent months.
