It’s reported that Japanese Kobe Steel has signed a technical transfer agreement with Swedish Sapa AB.

Under the agreement, Kobe Steel will provide Sapa with production technology for high quality aluminum extrusions to be used in Sapa's 50 extrusion plants throughout the continents including North America, Europe and Asia.

This combination of Kobe Steel’s technology with Sapa's global footprints is expected to provide even greater value to customers in automotive, office equipment, mass transportation and other product areas.

The agreement covers the full range of processes ranging from melting and casting to extrusion, including Kobe's proprietary aluminum alloys that have received high evaluation in the market.

The deal will also enable Sapa to make more sophisticated high end products and make it possible for Sapa to market high end aluminum extrusions made from Kobe Steel's technology through the entire Sapa plant network.

On the other hand, Kobe Steel will be able to speed up the global development of its aluminum extrusion business and flexibly meet the various demands from its customers for global procurement.
