The Batam-Bintan bridge is about 7 kilometers and the total investment cost is up IDR 4 trillion.

The Batam is Indonesia's only free trade zone which can benefit from the recent trade tensions between the US and China.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo thought about strategic locations for Batam and two neighbors Bintan and Singapore. Connecting with the bridge will upgrade the region into a shipping and manufacturing hub, increasing tourism and attract more foreign investment to the Indonesia islands.

The construction of the bridge will commence next year and it will take 3 to 4 years to complete.
