The latest data from the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) showed that global primary aluminum production is growing steadily. If this trend continues, monthly global production is expected to exceed 6 million tons in December 2024, setting a new record. In 2023, global primary aluminum production increased from about 69.04 million tons to 70.72 million tons, with a year-on-year growth rate of 2.43%, marking a robust recovery and expansion of the global aluminum industry market.

The IAI predicts that if production in 2024 continues to increase at the current rate, annual production may reach 72.52 million tons, with a year-on-year growth rate of 2.55%. This prediction is similar to the initial forecast by AL Circle, which previously predicted global primary aluminum production of 72 million tons in 2024. However, the situation in the Chinese market requires close attention.

Currently, China is in the winter heating season, and environmental policies have led to production cuts at some smelters, which may affect the growth of global primary aluminum production.
