Several European enterprises, including steel producers, energy companies, and hydrogen producers, announced the establishment of the H2med Southwestern Hydrogen Corridor alliance, which aims to accelerate the decarbonization of the industrial sector by early 2030.

It is consistent with climate policy goals such as the European Green Deal and the Fit for 55 plan and is committed to creating a trans-European hydrogen ecosystem and a hydrogen single market.

Participants include SHS - Stahl-Holding-Saar GmbH & Co. KGaA, DH2 Energy España, thyssenkrupp nucera, thyssenkrupp Steel Europe, Enagás, etc., joining Portugal, Spain, France, and Germany to build a unified hydrogen market, integrating hydrogen production, storage and consumption projects, thereby improving the balance between supply and demand and strengthening European industrial competitiveness and energy system resilience.

The plan covers some pipeline projects, including HY-FEN and HySoW, and the German hydrogen core network, further strengthening the European hydrogen economy and supporting the transformation of hard-to-decarbonize industries. This alliance marks the important position of hydrogen energy in achieving climate goals and adjusting industrial structure in the future.
