According to a report released by the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS), the global primary aluminum supply had a surplus of 34,200 tons in the first two months of this year, compared to a supply shortage of 1.677 million tons in 2021.

The demand for primary aluminum in the January-February period was 10.69 million tons, falling by 440,000 tons compared to the same period in the previous year. The demand was calculated based on the apparent data, and nationwide blockade measures might affect trade statistics.

During the given period, global aluminum production had a year-on-year decrease of 0.4%.
