According to report of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the US’s steel import permit applications for April totaled 3.294 million net tons, falling by 9% from a month ago.

In the month, the US’s import permit tonnage for finished steel totaled 2.761 million net tons, decreasing by 13% form the preliminary imports of 3.186 million net tons in March.

In the first four months, the country’s imports of total steel products and finished steel products amounted to 15.015 million net tons and 12.428 million net tons, increasing by 12% and 26% respectively year on year.
