Germany’s ThyssenKrupp is looking to improve their presence in the Eastern European market by opening a new service centre in Poland. The centre, in Dabrowa Gornicza, in southern Poland is scheduled to begin operations in 2007. The centre will have an annual output of 150, 000 tons of hot and cold rolled as well as coated strip. Production form the new centre will be used to satisfy the growing demand in the region. Customers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ukraine were previously helped with products from Germany. At the same time, the company will be able to directly compete with Mittal Steel for Poland’s largest integrated steelmaker which can produce around 70 percent production accordingly (May 11)
