It was reported that Ternium S.A. completed the expansion works at its steel plant in Palmar de Varela, Colombia, which had started producing steel wires and rebars.

The investment of this steel plant was around US$270 million, which was to upgrade one of the most modern steel mills in the region and make the output increase about 3 times. Now the annual capacity of this plant is approximately 740,000 tons.

The main task for the expanded plant was to consume billets in the region. The plant can separate and classify surplus ferrous materials by using closed-loop techniques.
