The Odisha government has approved eight major industrial projects totaling Rs 1.51 lakh crore, significantly supporting the state's economy and job market.

The largest approval goes to Vedanta Group's mega aluminum project in Dhenkanal, a Rs 1.28 lakh crore investment for a 3 million tons per annum (MTPA) aluminum smelter and 4,900 MW captive power plant. This single project alone is expected to create 30,000 jobs, solidifying Odisha's role as a global aluminum hub.

Other approved projects, spread across six districts, cover sectors including steel, chemicals, textiles, and metal downstream industries, collectively adding another 30,200 jobs. These include significant investments from Jindal India Steel Tech Ltd. and Shyam Steel Manufacturing Ltd., further driving industrial growth in the region.
