Nickel Asia, the largest nickel producer in Philippines said that it has postponed the mining operations at its Taganito Mining unit due to tan attack by an armed group.

Nickel Asia stated that certain equipment and facilities at Taganito Mining unit and Taganito HPAL Corporation were burned after hundreds of Maoist guerrillas attached the units on October 3rd, 2011.

However, the company didn’t reveal when it will resume the operations at its Taganito Mining unit.

Meanwhile, Nickel Asia predicted in June that its sales volumes would increase about 20% in 2011 and 60% of its output would export to China. Furthermore, the firm expected to sell around 10 million tons of ore in 2011, exceeding the record of 8.3 million tons in 2010.
