It was reported that the legislator of Iron Range in the Minnesota State made efforts to keep the license of the project valid, which made the Nashwauk mines be able to start operation after two-year construction.

Minnesota State canceled the rent contract with Mesabi Metallics. The Governor of the State, Tim Walz, signed an environmental protection bill which indicated that it needed to wait for at least two years before resuming the mining activities.

The output of this project totaled around 7 million tons per year.
