According to Mexico’s steel industry association Canacero, the country’s apparent rebar consumption totaled 329,000 tons in June this year, rising by 7.5% compared to the same month a year ago.

During the period, Mexico produced 347,000 tons of rebar, a slight year-on-year decrease of 1.1%.

In the first half of this year, Mexico’s rebar consumption rose by 8.8% to 2.1 million tons, while rebar output fell by 1.4% to 2.2 million tons, both year on year.

In terms of exports, Mexico exported 23,000 tons of rebar in June, a year-on-year decrease of 50%, hitting the second lowest so far this year, following the lowest at 21,000 tons in May.
