According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on August 1, 2025, the US rig count fell by two to 540 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas rose by two to 124 units, and that for oil decreased by five to 410 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 46 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count dropped by five to 177 units from the previous week, including 124 oil rigs (down by four week on week) and 53 gas rigs (down by one week on week). Canada’s rig number slid by 42 units compared to the same period a year ago.
